Them Dry Bones Pt 4 9/3/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 03 September, 2010 21:19
Devotional
It is not what I say that is important. It is the word of the Lord that will change a person's life. If we go around saying look what I can do, people may hear a message, but they will remain unchanged. It is only when we proclaim the word of the Lord that lives will be transformed.
Scripture Reference
Ezekiel 37:4
Again He said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!
Action Point
As Christians, we are called to proclaim the gospel message. Go out and tell others about Jesus and the free gift of salvation. It is the word of the Lord that will give life to the lifeless.

Scripture Reference
Ezekiel 37:3
And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord GOD, You know."

Them Dry Bones Pt 2 9/1/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 01 September, 2010 20:59
Devotional
Every day we meet new people and every person that we encounter is a potential opportunity for us to share the gospel message. Like Ezekiel, we have been placed in the midst of these people for a purpose. They need to hear the message, and how can they hear the message unless someone is sent.
Scripture Reference
Ezekiel 37:2
Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.
Action Point
As Christians, we need to be active in sharing the gospel message. The Lord has commanded us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. It needs to start with you proclaiming the message right where the Lord has planted you.

Them Dry Bones Pt 1 8/31/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 31 August, 2010 20:24
Devotional
The Lord had shown Ezekiel that he was in the midst of a people that were dead and lifeless. Though they had religion, they were as lost as they could be. There was no life in them. In the same way, we are around people at work and on the streets that are like these dry bones, and the life that they need can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Scripture Reference
Ezekiel 37:1
The hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.
Action Point
If we are to win souls for Jesus Christ, we need to start looking at the people around us as Ezekiel saw the dry bones. Though they are dead and lifeless, they can find new life in Christ Jesus.

A New Start 8/30/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 30 August, 2010 20:39
Devotional
As Christians, we have been given a new start. Where we were once a slave to sin, we are now bound by a bond that is unbreakable. We are no longer bound by sin or by the law, but by the blood of Jesus. Our relationship is no longer as a slave, but as a brother in Christ Jesus..
Scripture Reference
Philemon 1:15-16
For perhaps he departed for a while for this purpose, that you might receive him forever, no longer as a slave but more than a slave--a beloved brother, especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
Action Point
As Christians, we need to look beyond a persons past when they receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. We need to be willing to give them a fresh new start as a brother or sister in Christ.

Child Like Faith 8/29/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 29 August, 2010 20:38
Devotional
I remember when my boys were little. Anything that I said, they would believe. They didn't ask questions, or even doubt me for a minute. If dad said it, then it must be true. God wants us to come to him with that same faith. As Children of God, we need to take Him at His word.
Scripture Reference
Mark 10:15
"Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
Action Point
It is only by faith in Jesus, that we can enter into heaven. There is no other way. There is nothing that I can do to earn my way to heaven. I can't even buy my way into heaven. It is only by faith in Jesus, and nothing more.

Cheap Imitations 8/28/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 28 August, 2010 20:50
Devotional
There are many people today who know what the Lord has commanded, yet they still choose to make god's for themselves. Because the God of the Bible doesn't fit their expectations, they make god's that fit the mold that they have created. They worship it and say "This is our god."
Scripture Reference
Exodus 32:8
"They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, 'This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!' "
Action Point
Place your faith in the one true God. Remember that any of the other god's that people make are just cheap imitations. There is only one way to heaven and that is through faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

Don't Delay 8/27/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 27 August, 2010 20:34
Devotional
Friends, we do not know the day or the hour that the King is coming. For this reason, we must be ready. We will not have time to decide weather or not to follow Him. When He comes, those who believe will be gone in the twinkling of an eye. Those who did not believe will be left behind.
Scripture Reference
Matthew 24:44
"Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Action Point
J Vernon McGee put it this way. "You are either a saint, or you ain't." There is no middle ground. The decision to follow Jesus needs to be made this side of eternity. Don't wait another day. Tell others about Jesus. If you have never received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, today is the day. Don't wait.

Edification Of The Church 8/26/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 26 August, 2010 20:27
Devotional
As Christians, we should all seek spiritual gifts, but we also need to examine our motives. If we are seeking the gifts for our own glory, then we are doing it for the wrong reasons. Everything that we do should only be done for the glory of the Lord and for the edification of the church.
Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 14:12
Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.
Action Point
Seek spiritual gifts for His glory that all may benefit in the body of Christ. Your service should never be centered on anyone other than Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Revealed 8/25/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 25 August, 2010 20:28
Devotional
God has revealed Himself through the prophets. They foretold of the coming of Christ, and of His death and resurrection. Though we may not always see clearly the meanings of prophesies concerning future events, God has given us insight so that when they happen we will know it is from God.
Scripture Reference
Amos 3:7
Surely the Lord GOD does nothing,
Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
Action Point
Take time to study Bible prophecy. God has revealed future events through the prophets. We need to open our eyes, so that we can see what is ahead.

A Relvant Message 8/24/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 24 August, 2010 20:56
Devotional
There is a southern Gospel song that is titled "The Blood Will Never Loose It's Power." The title is just as relevant today as when it was written some fifty years ago. The message is still the same, and the blood that was shed over two thousand years ago still has the power to save all who will call upon is name.
Scripture Reference
Acts 2:39
"For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
Action Point
Share the gospel message every chance you get. Tell everyone about what the Lord has done and about the blood that was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of sin. His promise is still relevant today and for future generations till the Lord returns.

Joy In The Lord 8/23/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 23 August, 2010 20:41
Devotional
As Christians, we need to let our joy in the Lord overflow into all that we do. We need to worship Him openly and whole heatedly. All too often people are just going through the motions. They say that they love the Lord, yet their life doesn't show it. We need to get exited about worship, and worship with joy, and gladness.
Scripture Reference
Psalm 5:11
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.
Action Point
Express your love and Joy for the Lord when you worship. Let people see the joy that is in you because of what He has done. Enter His gates with thanksgiving in your heart, and enter His courts with praise.

Who Is He? 8/22/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 22 August, 2010 20:51
Devotional
Jesus asked Peter the most important question that has ever been posed to man. "But who do you say that I am?" Your salvation depends upon the answer. It doesn't matter who other people say that He is. It is a question that is personal and direct. He is looking for a response from you.
Scripture Reference
Mark 8:29
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said to Him, "You are the Christ."
Action Point
Often times when we witness to people, we ask if they believe in Jesus. The question that we should be asking next is who do they say that Jesus is. To some He is Lord and Savior. To others, He is a prophet or a good teacher. Who do you say that He is?

Response To Adversity 8/21/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 21 August, 2010 20:44
Devotional
What is your response to adversity? Job makes a good point. We praise God when things are going good, but when things are not going the way we plan, we try to blame God. The fact is God will often times allow adversity in our lives. It is during these times that we need to place our trust in the plan that God has for us.
Scripture Reference
Job 2:10
But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Action Point
Thank God for the adversity as well as the victory. It is through adversity that our faith grows. Trust in the plans that God has for you. The adversity may just be a blessing in disguise.

Restoration 8/20/2010 Devotional
wordinsong | 20 August, 2010 20:41
Devotional
Do you remember as a child learning to ride a bike? Chances are pretty good that you fell a few times before you were able to ride on your own, and you probably fell a few times since then. Being a Christian is like learning to ride a bike. You may stumble and fall along the way, but with help and encouragement from others, you can get right back on track.
Scripture Reference
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
Action Point
When you see another Christian stumble, be there to help them and encourage them. Forgive them, and build them up in the Lord. Remember those who have helped and forgiven you along the way.
