Run To Win 7/4/2009 Devotional

Devotional
A local politician had entered a race, but quit campaigning when he thought he had enough votes to win. When the results came in, he had come up short, and his opponent had won. Often times people go through the motions, and try to do just enough to get by, but they fail to do what it takes. They go to church, and try to live a good life, but if they have never received Jesus, they have fallen short of the finish line.
Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
Action Point
As Christians, we need to disciple those who have made a decision to follow Christ. We need to encourage them to run the race, and not stop short of the finish line. Going through the motions will make them religious, but receiving Jesus in their heart as Lord and Savior will make them a Christian.
