I See God
Scripture reference: Romans 1:20
Do you see God? I do! He can be visible to us every day, if only we take a moment to ponder upon the things around us.
This morning as I awoke I could hear in the not too far distance the sound of a woodpecker methodically and instinctively using it's beak to drill holes in an available tree.
Why do they do that, I wondered. What drives a woodpecker to peck on wood? Why doesn't it hurt them?
Who instructed the bees to carry pollen from one flower to another? Why is it this often annoying insect that has the ability to inflict a painful sting also create something as sweet as honey ?
What causes birds to fly south for the winter? Who taught them the way? How do they know to return when the climate changes?
Over the decades technology and understanding in the wonders of the world around us has increased. Those who study nature could probably provide an answer to why each living creature functions the way they do, and the purpose they serve in the overall balance of our ecology.
Can our scientific minds explain how each of these creatures instinctively know they were meant to fulfill the purpose they carry out on a daily basis?
In this week's scripture passage from the book of Romans, Paul simplifies this complex question.
...the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made....
The Apostle goes on to warn us, those who fail to recognize God as God have no excuse! He is visible to us, because of the things around us.
This week I encourage you to take a few minutes each day to consider the wonders of the beautiful and fantastic creation around you. Pay close attention to the variety of creatures in our world and how diversely they function. Take a moment to dwell upon the complexity of them, as you watch them instintively perform the purpose they were designed for.
Can you see God in the things around you?
With all the evidence only a fool or a spiritually blind person could deny the existence of God.
