Love Not The World

Daily Living — Posted by ptl @ 21:13

Scripture reference: 1John 2:15-17

Where is your heart today? What do you treasure the most? The things that motivate us, and consume our time clearly indicate the answers to these questions.

In this week's scripture passage John tells us not to love this world, or the things of this world. He mentions 3 factors whereby this world we live in is constantly seeking to draw us.

The desires of our flesh, the things we visually find attractive, and pride.

The world we live in today has much to offer in all three areas. We should be constantly on guard, understanding how intense the temptations which surround us really are.

Jesus told us in Luke 12, where our treasure is, there will our heart be also.

The Lord should not just come first in our lives. We must allow him to be our life. Everything we do, all that we desire, all we seek after should revolve around him. Shouldn't it?

Do you put as much effort into seeking after God, studying the Word, and praying, as you should? Do other things get in the way of the time you make available for intimacy with God. Is your relationship with Him lacking because you are consumed with other things?

May I suggest we all make a sincere and honest inventory this week of the things we treasure the most.
